Marie writes fast, fresh, family-friendly recipes, in her words, and has been publishing them for years. We built the site she publishes them on. The more interesting work has been everything since: her site has grown three times over.
Built it, then kept it standing.
A recipe site built to be read
Recipes are the product, so the structure serves them: a browsable index that holds hundreds without collapsing, and a page where the ingredients and the method are the only things asking for attention.

Legible for the readers she actually has
Marie told us a lot of her newer subscribers are over 55 and were struggling with grey text on a grey card. We took the recipe type to near-black. It is a small change and the single most useful one we have made to the site.

Kept ahead of her traffic
Her traffic keeps climbing, and the site is kept ahead of it rather than rescued after it, so a busy month has never taken it down.
The unglamorous half
Blocking a contact form that was delivering 145 spam emails before breakfast. Fixing pagination that was hiding half her recipes. Moving her mail to Google Workspace when her old host started dropping it. None of this is design. All of it is why the site still works.
If you’re in food media and need to take control of your website, let’s talk.
